Clarence Evans of Magnolia, North Carolina departed this life for his heavenly life during the early morning of Thursday, November 1, 2018 following a period of illness. Born in Onslow County, N.C. on August 30, 1934 he was the son of the late David Nick and Mary Ellen Brown Evans.
Mr. Evans spent his entire life helping others--occupationally and otherwise. His life work as an auto mechanic placed him in the path of many people who needed assistance in their travels. He also encountered many people in his volunteer work as a firemen, serving as fire chief for several years. As an emergency medical technician, he was instrumental in the formation of the Magnolia Rescue Squad and was very dedicated to emergency medical service for the people of Magnolia and Duplin County for about than forty years. Serving as town commissioner of Magnolia for several terms was yet an additional way to serve his community.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of sixty-three years--Annie Ruth Wells Evans; his daughters--Kathy Evans Quinn and husband J.D. of Magnolia, Carolyn Evans Quinn of Magnolia, Barbara Evans Harris of Beulaville, and Patsy Kelly of Potters Hill; his sons--Jimmy Lee Hartley of Magnolia and Ted Kelly of Deep Run; grandchildren--Ryan Evans Harris of Raleigh, Christina Quinn Atkins and husband David of Burlington, Adam Hartley of Magnolia, and Danielle Harris of Wilmington; great grandchildren--Austin Atkins and Brantley Atkins; sister--Mary Elizabeth Murray of Wallace.
A celebration of life will be held for Mr. Clarence on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Magnolia Baptist Church in Magnolia. Interment will follow in the Knowles Family Cemetery in Rose Hill. At other times the family will receive friends and family at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Evans.
