Gwendolyn English Jones of Wallace passed from her earthly life to her heavenly one on Monday, July 1, 2019, while at home. Born on May 6, 1965, she was the daughter of Reba Marshburn English and the late Norwood J English of Wallace, NC.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter -- Beth Jones Lavin and husband Mark of Apex, NC; mother -- Reba Marshburn English of Wallace; grandchildren -- Kennedy Lavin and Quinn Lavin of Apex; sisters -- Judy E. Rivenbark and husband David of Wallace, Pat E. Conway and husband Gerald of Wallace, and Beverly E. Hyatt and husband Michael of Wallace; nieces and nephews -- Tina Croom of Willard, Allen English and wife Kelly of Wallace, Mandy Henderson and husband Jon of Teachey, Sandy Turner and husband L.H. of Teachey, Dave Rivenbark and wife Mandy of Wallace, April Slaughter and husband Josh of Wallace, and Madison Hyatt of Wallace. She was most proud of her daughter, son-in-law, and two beautiful granddaughters.
Gwen was a woman of many talents. Previously, she was a CNA who cared for those in a nursing home, a chiropractor’s assistant, a nursery worker, and a cleaner. Most recently, she was a caretaker for her mother in the home. She was an outgoing and very “real” person who never met a stranger and who always tried to do for others without regard for herself. Being a homebody kept her at home a great deal of the time where she enjoyed watching the PBS channel -- especially mystery shows. She loved her Lord and spent time reading her devotionals and studying her Bible. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Chinquapin. One of her favorite places outside the home was the beach. She loved her family more than anything else on earth.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019, in the 401 West Main Street chapel of Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services in Wallace. Family will greet friends in the family home at 240 Stokestown Road, Wallace. Friends and family are welcome to visit at the home anytime. Flowers are welcome or please consider a gift to the charity of one’s choice in memory of Gwen.
