James David "Jamie" Brock of Rose Hill, NC departed his earthly home for his heavenly peace on the early morning of Friday, July 19, 2019 while at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. Born December 19, 1943, he was the son of the late James William and Vivian Louise Brown Brock of Duplin County. He is also predeceased by brothers William Brock and Linwood Brock.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of fifty-six years--Doris Ann Bishop Brock; sons--James Carl Brock and wife Kathy of Rose Hill and Ronald David Brock and wife Kimi of Rose Hill; grandchildren--Kelly Foley Murray and husband Brandon of Rose Hill, Ann Marie Brock of Rose Hill, Brian Foley and wife Tammy of Rose Hill, Chris Foley and wife Whitney of Wallace, Jennifer Anderson and husband Jordan of Wilmington, Brandon Allenczy and wife Erin of Wilmington; and six great grandchildren.
"Huckleberry", as he was known to many of his friends, knew the value of a hard work ethic in the profession he chose--backhoe service and construction which he and his brother started many years ago. Before this business venture, he managed a blueberry farm for several years in the early 1970's. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing from both boat and pier and took much pride in his "Jeep racing" where he received many trophies for his abilities. Up until about 1987, he did something each year known to many as "hog killing" which provided meat for his family all during the next year. In addition to his hog farming, there were also emu and there were twenty-six of them. He received a great deal of enjoyment in barbecuing pigs for his many beloved friends in "pig pickings" during his lifetime. He was a long time member of the Island Creek Baptist Church and while away at the beach weekends, the family attended the Chapel By The Bay in Surf City. The grandchildren were his "eye ball" and there was nothing on earth more important than his love for those special younger ones.
The family will greet friends at a visitation on Sunday night, July 21st at 6 PM till 8 PM in the chapel of Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services and at other times at the residence. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday at 10 AM in the Island Creek Baptist Church of Rose Hill. Interment will follow in the Brock Family Cemetery. Flowers are welcome or please consider a contribution in his memory to St. Jude Childrens Hospital--a charity very dear to Mr. Brock.
