Robert Lee Wadsworth, Jr. left his earthly home on the evening of February 6, 2019 while at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, NC. He was born on September 28, 1942 to the late Robert Lee and Ella Elizabeth Hayne Wadsworth of Teachey, NC. And was also predeceased by sisters—Dorothy “Dot” Wells and Mary Vann Roberson.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife--Alice Faye Wadsworth of the home in Watha; children—Mary Beth Chandler and husband David of Goldsboro, Robert Wadsworth III and wife Glenda of Rose Hill, and Stephen Wadsworth and wife Kitty of Maple Hill; grandchildren—Tyler Chandler and wife Kelli of Goldsboro, Nicholas Chandler of Goldsboro, and Dustin Wadsworth of Wallace; great grandchild—Parker Chandler of Goldsboro; and his loving and constant canine companion—“Sweet Pee”.
Mr. Wadsworth worked in agriculture for most of his life—whether tilling the soil or caring for livestock. He always loved animals of all kinds and this love was directed to his loving canine friend “Sweet Pee”. He enjoyed his garden, fishing , flounder giging, and anything involving the outdoors. In earlier life he enjoyed quail hunting and took pride in the bird dogs he owned. He was one the founders of the Teachey Volunteer Fire Department and spent about twenty years as a volunteer fireman.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday night, February 8th at 7:00 p.m. at Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel. A visitation will follow the service. Interment will be Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Rockfish Cemetery in Wallace. At other times the family will receive friends at the home on 2485 Anderson Road in Watha, NC.
