Sarah Yvonne Boone Merritt

Sarah Yvonne Boone Merritt of Magnolia, NC departed her earthly life on the evening of April 17, 2019 while at home.  Born on September 24, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Hall Boone and Martha Ann Ezzell Boone.  Also predeceasing her was her husband--Tom Watson Merritt and a son--Thomas Jefferson Merritt.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her children--Claudia Lynette Rockwood of Magnolia, Steve Lance Merritt and wife Lisa of Winchester, VA, Christopher Brian Merritt and wife Marsha of Fuquay-Varina, Mark Anthony Merritt and wife Teresa of Hampstead, and James Mitchell Merritt and wife Elizabeth of Pittsboro, NC; eleven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Mrs. Merritt spent her career in retail sales.  Then, helping raise her grandchildren was a priority for her and she "doted" over all of her family members.  She was a loving person who taught real values in the lives of all her family and extended family.  She was sweet and caring, blunt at times, and nurturing to everyone who came into her life--while also teaching everyone how to be happy.  For entertainment she enjoyed planting flowers, watching her birds, travelling, and swimming in her earlier life.   

A visitation will be held on Friday at Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday April 20, 2019 at Trinity United Methodist Church conducted by Pastor Sharon Garleugh Brown. Burial will follow in Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery
