Susan Pricilla Dickerson Cavenaugh of Wallace, NC, left her earthly home at The Gardens of Rose Hill during the morning of Monday, January 28, 2019. She was born on May 19, 1927 in Pitt County. She was predeceased by her husband--Richard Lee Cavenaugh; father—Junious C. Dickerson; mother—Elizabeth Hall Farrow; son—Robert Forrest Cavenaugh; sisters—Lina Gay Batson Madden and Irene Batson Smith.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters—Sherry Cavenaugh Coombs and husband Elwood of Wallace, Beth Cavenaugh Fussell and husband Bo of Surf City; daughter-in-law—Gail Matthews Cavenaugh of Wallace; sister--Marian Farrow Clas and husband Fred of Schnectady, NY; grandchildren—Michelle Cavenaugh Blanchard and husband Edwin of Wallace, Roger Lee Coombs of Wallace, Amie Cavenaugh Eakins and husband George of Wallace, Susan Coombs Bradshaw and husband Ashley of Wallace, Braxton Fussell and wife Leah of Wilmington, John Tyler Fussell and wife Megan of Clinton, and Lauren Fussell of Raleigh; great grandchildren—Johnson Blanchard, Madelyn Coombs, Olivia Bradshaw, Georgia Cavenaugh-Eakins, Maggie Ray Bradshaw, Claire Beth Bradshaw, Robert Coombs, and Bodhi Fussell; and very special family friends—Kim and Dennis Patram.
Mrs. Cavenaugh was a loving Mother and Grandmother. She was also a creative and innovative businesswoman who was always searching for ways to make Wallace a better place to shop and to live. As a Master Florist and owner/operator of Willa’s Flowers and Gifts in Wallace, she taught floral design for James Sprunt Community College for many years.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Padgett Funeral and Cremation Services in Wallace. A service honoring her life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home following the visitation. Interment will be in the Riverview Memorial Cemetery after the service.
