Obituary

Alan Stampe of Teachey, died Tuesday morning, February 28, 2023, at New Hanover Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina surrounded by his loving family.

Alan was born October 5, 1944, in Clinton, Iowa to Leroy and Helen Christensen Stampe. He graduated from Central Community High School in 1963 and attended Pasadena Community College in California. In 1965 Alan married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Stampe, in DeWitt, Iowa where they lived most of their lives.

In 1966, Alan enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was assigned to Turner Air Force Base in Albany, Georgia before being sent for a tour of duty in Vietnam for one year. He finished his military service in Montgomery, Alabama in 1970.

Upon completion of his Air Force assignment, Alan enrolled at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.

His work life was primarily spent in farming and as a seed corn representative for several companies concluding with Pioneer International.

Upon retirement Alan and Carolyn moved to the Vineyards in Wallace, N.C. to be closer to family. Being close to his grandchildren and attending their activities was the love of his life.  He enjoyed golfing and fishing but in later years he developed a love for woodworking.  His final creation was a beautiful dining table for their home.
