Mr. Allen Ray Smith, known as \"Smitty\" age 67 of Wallace, NC, died on February 11, 2015 at Vidant Duplin Hospital in Kenansville, NC. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at 1:30 at Sharon Baptist Church in Chinquapin, NC conducted by the Rev. Patrick Trobaugh. Burial will follow at Craft Cemetery on Norwood Blanchard Road in Wallace, NC. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 14 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Padgett Funeral Home in Wallace, NC. Smitty is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan McLamb Smith of the home, his son, Allen Ray Smith, Jr. and wife Cherlyn of Wallace, NC, his daughter, Penny Smith Ellen and husband Scott of Castle Hayne, NC, two grandchildren, Courtney Anne Smith of Wallace, NC and Nathan Odell Ellen of Castle Hayne, NC, his mother, Frances Craft Smith of Wallace, NC, two brothers, Avery Smith and wife Heidi of Wallace, NC and Anthony Smith of Wallace, NC and two sisters, Anne Smith Jones and husband Ronnie of Leland, NC and Alisa Smith Sofield and husband John of Wilmington, NC and many nieces and nephews. Smitty was born on February 6, 1948 in Duplin County to Frances Craft Smith and the late William Ray Smith. Smitty retired from General Electric in Wilmington after 43 years of service. He maintained friendships with many of his co-workers. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially adored his two grandchildren. He enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, growing his garden, NASCAR and riding to the river with his grandchildren on his 4wheeler and watching his grandchildren play sports.
