Obituary

Mrs. Amie Hall Lucas Johnson, age 89 of Magnolia, NC, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Milford & Reba Quinn Hospice Center in Kenansville. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, February 18, 2013 at Padgett Funeral Home conducted by Dr. Ray Kennedy and her grandson Rev. Ben Lucas. Burial will follow at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive one hour prior to the service at Padgett Funeral Home. She is survived by four daughters, Virginia Murray of Magnolia, NC, Betty Culbreth and husband Ralph Sr. of Magnolia, NC, Joyce Rackley of Willard, NC and Judy Bellamy and husband Allen of Shallotte, NC, four sons, David Lucas Sr. and wife Gayle of Watha, NC, Jerry Lucas and wife Faye of Rock Hill, SC, Donald Lucas and wife Lynn of Magnolia, NC and Robert Lucas and wife Rhonda of Reidsville, NC, thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two brothers, Marl Hall and wife Lorraine of Lexington, NC and Floyd Hall of Concord, NC, a sister, Arlene Williams of high Point, NC and many nieces and nephews. Born February 3, 1924 in Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late Arlie and Vella (Honey) Hall and was preceded in death by her husbands, Arthur Lucas and Bill Johnson, four brothers, Reese Hall, Elvin Hall, Ed Hall and Daniel Hall, two sisters, Paige Voncannon and Ollie Johnson, a grandson, Earl Murray, a daughter-in-law, Dollie Lucas, and a son-in-law, Preston Rackley. Amie was a member of the Warsaw Baptist Church but most recently has been attending the Faith Independent Baptist Church in Magnolia. Mrs. Johnson loved to travel independently. She loved taking the rail train to different parts of the country. When she was not traveling she loved to work helping others. She previously worked at the Duplin County Health Department and at the Carolina East Hospice Center. Her children were her pride and joy. She devoted her mature years in raising her children. She loved spending time with her family. Pallbearers are: Ralph Culbreth Jr., David Culbreth, Aaron Busbee, David Lucas Jr., Jeffrey Hulsey and Taylor Lucas. The family would like to express a special thanks to Day Springs in Wallace and Milford & Reba Quinn Hospice Center in Kenansville for the special care they gave to Mrs. Amie Johnson.
