IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arthur Ross
Cavanaugh
January 12, 2028 – March 20, 2012
Arthur Ross Cavanaugh, age 84, of Rose Hill went to rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at Quinn Hospice Care Center. He was born January 2, 1928 in Rose Hill to the late Macon and Florence Cavanaugh. Affectionately known as \"Cateye\", his larger than life personality and sense of humor have left behind a town legacy. Cateye never met a stranger and everywhere you go someone has a story or \"Cat\" tale as unique as the life he lived. Traveling throughout the country he was self employed most of his life in various business ventures, most notably evergreen supplier to northern florists, thrift and antique store owner, truck driver and used car dealer. Cateye served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Rose Hill PFWB Church. He was a poet and songwriter often writing and singing of family, friends and Heaven. His family is comforted knowing that he now has a whole mind and perfect body after years of suffering from Alzheimer's and failing health. Cateye was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed and always remembered. He is survived by his wife, Mary Piner Cavanaugh; four children, Libby (Jimmy) Kokkeler of Rose Hill and Wilmington, Marsha (Frank) Ellis of Exuma, Bahamas, Ross (Stephanie) Cavanaugh of Rose Hill and Mary Suzanna of Atlanta, Georgia; two step children, Faye (Paul) Morales of Houston Texas and Bobby (Judy) Roberts of Hampstead. He has seven grandchildren who loved their Papa dearly, Caryn Hodges, Allyson (Dustin) Hunter, Laura Hodges, Paige (RJ) Cavenaugh, Brooke Cavanaugh, Macon Cavanaugh and Hill Ellis. He is also survived by three sisters and one brother, Essie Anastasio, Erma Pagano, Margaret Holmes and Bobby Cavanaugh. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Macon, Melbourne and Erdmond, and two sisters, Grace Fussell Porter and Vera Christian.
