Aubrey Clarence Jones, Sr.

   Aubrey Clarence Jones, Sr. of Wilmington departed his earthly life for his eternal life on Thursday, December 18, 2025, while at Novant-New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Born on April 4, 1940, he is the son of the late Dallas Frank and Carrie Elizabeth Maxwell Jones. Also preceding him in death are his wife—Barbara “Bobbie” Jones and siblings—Dallas Jones, Sr, Carl Jones, Joyce Hardison, and Jean Fleszar.

   Left to cherish his memory are his children—Aubrey Jones, Jr. and wife Tanya of Raleigh, Rebecca Jones Zima and husband Andy of Taylors (SC), and Melissa Jones of Wilmington; grandchildren—Mark Jones and wife Arianna of Greensboro; Samantha Zima Robbins and husband Blake of Birmingham (AL), and Joelle Zima Mobley and husband Thomas of Spring Lake (NC); one great grandchild who is “on the way”; sister—Ruby King of Rose Hill; and sister-in-law—Frances Jones of Jonesboro (GA).

   Mr. Jones grew up in a family of six children where he learned the value of sharing with others. He was always compassionate toward others and was adamant about helping anyone he encountered who was in need. By his family, he was viewed as a jokester who had his own style of dry wit. A great part of his work career involved duties as a lab technician at DuPont in Leland (NC). As an artist he had the ability to draw an accurate depiction of friends he knew and could also freehand lettered signs and vehicles for advertising and identification of businesses. As a craftsman he could build almost anything in construction. His love for his family was immeasurable and he will be forever in their minds.

   A graveside service to celebrate his life is set for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in Duplin Memorial Gardens-Hwy 117 North-Teachey, NC. The Jones family is being assisted by Padgett Funeral Home of Wallace, NC.
