Barbra Ann Cox

Barbra Ann Cox departed her life here on earth on Sunday morning, April 26, 2026, while a resident of the Wallace Health & Rehabilitation Center in Wallace, NC. Born on July 3, 1938, she is the daughter of the late Marvin Asea and Eva Peabody. Also preceding her in death are her son—Marvin Cox and brothers—Kenneth Wayne Peabody and Robert Asea Peabody.

Left to cherish her memory are her children— Alvin “Rusty” Cox and wife Jennifer of Washington state and Shana Bain and husband Greg of Wallace; grandchildren—Cody and Cheyenne of Wallace; great grandchildren—KC Allen Bain, Grayson Elliott Bain, Aubrey Rose Murrray, Allie Harper Wolfe, Charlie Rae Bain all of Wallace, and Tyler and Jared Cox of Washington state; and sister-in-law—Delores Peabody of California.

Mrs. Cox was born in Texas. Early life was spent in raising her children. In later life she worked for the housing authority in the area in which she lived. While in Indio, California, she was extremely active in the Eastern Star, especially in the youth programs—Jobs Daughters, Rainbow Girls, and Demolay. Her enterprising nature led her into wedding cake decorating and Christmas tree decorating as side jobs, while also being very talented in crochet and sewing endeavors.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be planned for a later time.
