Betty Jo Rivenbark Smith, age 69, departed this earthly life on June 27, 2011. She was born in Duplin County on May 14, 1942, the daughter of the Arthur Carroll Rivenbark, Sr. and Magdaline (Mag) Grice Rivenbark of Wallace. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Carl Smith, her son Raymond Ivey Eury, her grandson Robin Carroll Eury, II, and her granddaughter Tabathia Eury. She is survived by her som, Robin Carroll Eury and wife Myra;; granddaughters, Amy Eury and son, Preston, Brittney Eury, of Wallace, Sarah Eury, Anna Eury, and three great-grandchildrenS, all of Lexington, KY. She is also survived by her brother, A.C. Rivenbark, Jr. and wife Luanne of Wallace, and her sister Tonya Rivenbark Prescott and husband Steve of Teachey, several nieces and nephews including her \"special\" niece, Britta Lynn Cavenaugh of Wallace, devoted friends, Joyce Ford, Kim and Bart Southerland, and pet companion Jasmine. Betty was affectionately known as \"Me-Maw\" to her grandchildren, niece and many of their friends. Mrs. Smith began her retail career with Wal-Mart in Wallace, and worked her way up to an Assistant Manager with the company making many life-long friends and acquaintances until her health forced her into retirement. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family, friends, and neighbors where her sense of humor was always quite entertaining. She was known for her cooking abilities especially her famous homemade fudge. The family would like to thank the caring staff at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington and the Brian Center Health and Rehab in Wallace.
