Brenda Kay Mintz Piner passed from her earthly life to her heavenly home on the early morning of August 3, 2026 while a resident of the Harmony House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Kinston. Born on March 31, 1947, in Brunswick County, she is the daughter of the late Tom and Florence Benton Mintz. Also preceding her death are her husband—George W. Piner; grandchild—Heather Brown; and siblings—Ruby Stubbs, Josephine Grainger, Barbara Ann Lanier, Daisy Lawhorn, and Tommy Ray Mintz.
Left to cherish her memory are her children—Sheila Gates Bill) of Lewiston (NC), George Piner (Christy) of Kinston, Darlene Blanton (Jr) of Magnolia, Arlene Blanton (Tommy) of Watha, and Jennifer Brown (Van) of Pink Hill; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and sister—Rochelle Piner.
Mrs. Piner was a Christian lady who loved God with all her heart and who treated others as she wanted to be treated. She had a keen interest in her lawn care and spent many hours in manicuring her yard. After her work was complete, relaxation was gained in her swing where she spent a great deal of time. She raised her children well and cherished each family member more than anything on earth. They were truly a part of her.
A graveside service to celebrate her life is set for 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, in Riverview Memorial Park of Watha. Officiating will be Reverend Gary Harris.
