Brenda Florence Brown, age 57, died Friday July 31, 2009 surrounded by her family and friends at Carolina East Hospice Care Center in Kenansville. She was born December 28, 1951 to the late Thurman and Florence Brinson Brown. Brenda was a member of Kenansville Baptist Church. She graduated from James Kenan High School and Mount Olive College. She also held a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from East Carolina University. Brenda was a member of the N. C. Association of Municipal Clerks and her most recent employment was as Town Clerk of Magnolia. Her favorite pastimes were working in her flowers and spending time with her friends and family. She is survived by her husband of thirty-four years, Roger \"Perks\" Tharpe, of the home, sister, Alice Lee Brown; niece, Michelle Quinn and husband, Kim; great nephew, Holden Alexander Quinn all of Kenansville; special friends, Rodney Smith of Magnolia, Sudi Matthis of Delway, Eula Mae Farrior of Magnolia and Gail Harper of Kenansville. Visitation was held Monday, August 3 at Kenansville Baptist Church, Kenansville. A service celebrating her life was held Tuesday, August 4 at Kenansville Baptist Church and was conducted by Reverend Michael Thompson and Reverend Angie Partin. Burial followed in Devotional Gardens, Warsaw. Casketbearers were Truett Booth, Doc Brinson, Joe Davis Brinson, Winfred Best, Jared Sanderson and Kyle Sutton. Padgett Funeral and Cremation Service.
