Mr. Christopher Columbus \"C. C.\" Rouse, 82, went to be with his Lord on September 13, 2010, surrounded by his family, at New Hanover Memorial Hospital. He was born September 29, 1927, the son of the late Holmes Rouse and Mary Ward Rouse Dobson. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Harrell Rouse, daughter Jane Rouse Woodruff and husband Robert Howard Woodruff of Orlando, Florida; and son Christopher Harrell Rouse and wife, Judy Hill Rouse of Wilmington. He was especially proud of his grandchildren Jonathan Rouse Woodruff, Justin Robert Woodruff, Hannah Jane Rouse and Christen Hailey Rouse. He is also survived by brother, Charles Vernon Rouse and wife Helen; and sister Mary Lee Rouse Phillips and husband Curtis. He had many nieces and nephews. C. C. was preceded in death by his brothers: Leslie Rouse, Doane Rouse, and Ward Rouse; Sisters: Polly R. Smith and Elnora R. Ivey. After serving his country in the United States Navy during World War II, he came back home and after attending school, began his career with BB& T for 39 years. He was actively involved in his church. He served for 22 years as the Church Treasurer and sang in the Church Choir. He was active in the VFW, serving as Quarter Master for 20 years. C. C. also liked golf, was an avid gardener and a lover of God's nature.
