Mrs. Colleen Padgett Gurganious of Wallace, NC, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the Brian Health and Rehab Center, Wallace. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Wallace conducted by Dr. Alan Thompson. Burial will follow at Duplin Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church parlor. She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Hopper of Madison, NC, Kay Rouse and husband Don of Winnabow, NC, and Jean Barnes and husband Clarence of Wilmington, NC, three grandchildren, Donna Holden and husband Lamar of Lumberton, NC, Brian Rouse and wife Marsha of Wilmington, NC, and Greg Barnes and wife Debra of Wilmington, NC, five step grandchildren, James M. Hopper and wife Linda of Salisbury, NC, David A. Hopper of Reidsville, NC, Sharon Hopper and husband Mike Gonet of Sandy Ridge, NC, Cathy Bell and husband Frank of Summerfield, NC, and Ginger Horne and husband Bill of Madison, NC, five great grandchildren, Whitney Holden, Josh Holden, Tyler Rouse, Sophia Rouse and Ashlyn Barnes, six step great grandchildren, a great great grandson, Shane Emanuel and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was born April 14, 1922 in Duplin County, the daughter of the late Teachey Bruce and Alice (Pierce) Padgett and was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Eugene Bryant Gurganious, three brothers, Earl \"Bud\" Padgett, Eugene Padgett, and James J. Padgett, four sisters, Nola Dixon, Ozelle Creech, Maydelle Whaley, and Kiney Creech and a son-in-law, Monroe Hopper. Colleen was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Wallace. Mrs. Gurganious was a nurturing woman who enjoyed working with ceramics, gardening, canning, quilting and especially loved spending time with her family and friends. Colleen had retired from United Family Life Insurance Company in Wallace. The family of Mrs. Colleen Gurganious would like to send a special thanks to the staff of the Brian Center and to Brent Dew and Larry for their encouragement and moral support. Pallbearers will be Brian Rouse, Greg Barnes, Josh Holden, Lamar Holden, Shawn Emanuel, and Jeffrey Albertson.
