Mr. Daniel H. James \"Hank\", age 81, of Palm Beach, FL, died Sunday, June 26, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was a native of Wallace, NC, a graduate from NC State University '51 and received a Doctorate of Jurisprudence, cum laude, from the University of Miami in 1960. A prominent trial lawyer with the West Palm Beach law firms of Hamilton, James, Merkle and Young and, later, James and Young, Hank devoted 45 years to the legal profession he loved. He was an avid golfer and loved to tend his garden, hunt with his brothers and sons, and engage his children and grandchildren in lively and competitive games of cards. He was the son of the late Emil and Mary Henry James and was predeceased by his brother C.J. James. Hank will be missed by his loving family which includes his wife of 54 years, Sylvia; his children, Patricia and her husband Andrew of New York, NY, Daniel and his wife Jennifer of Atlanta, GA and Jonathan and his wife Amy, also of Atlanta, GA; his seven grandchildren, Caroline, Stephanie, Ashlyn, Alexandra, Annsley, Olivia and Cole; and his three surviving brothers, William of Burgaw, Elwood of Columbia, SC and Harold of Sanford, NC, as well as many dear friends and other relatives.
