Mr. David Leroy Pigford age 77 of Rocky Point, NC died Thursday July 19, 2012 at Cary Health and Rehab, Cary, NC.

He was born in Sampson County on June 1, 1935, the son of the late David and Ada (Bland) Pigford and was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Ross Gilbert, Bessie Scott, Louise Fields and Maggie Proctor and a brother, William Francis Pigford. David loved fishing, Nascar racing, watching his favorite movie "Fried Green Tomatoes" and especially loved spending time with his family and friends. Surviving are: a daughter, Phyllis Smith and husband Eddie of North Carolina, four grandchildren, two sisters, Jane Boone and husband Howard of Franklin, VA and Mozelle Marley and husband Ed of Rocky Point, NC, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Harry Boone, Donnie Boone, David Boone, Wilson Knowles, Mickey Williams, Mark Proctor, Mike Ball, Daniel Meeks.
