Obituary

Mr. David Henry (Snookie) Rivenbark, Sr., age 83 of 391 Rivenbark Town Road, Wallace, NC died Thursday, December 10, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Padgett Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Tim Evans, Rev. Hill Teachey, and Rev. George Price, Jr. Burial will follow in the Pin Hook Cemetery at Teachey. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Rivenbark of the home; four children, David Rivenbark, Jr., and wife Judy of Wallace, Terry H. Rivenbark and wife Ramona of Wallace, Vickie Hudson and husband Robert of Hampstead, and Sarah Huffman and husband Kenneth of Wallace; eight grandchildren, Gina Farrior and husband Chuck of Wallace, Dona Lanier and husband Denny of Wallace, Robert Hudson, Jr., and wife Missy of Hampstead, Mandy Henderson and husband Jon of Teachey, Sandy Turner and husband L. H., of Teachey, Richard Hudson and wife Melody of Hampstead, David Rivenbark III and wife Mandy of Wallace, and Thomas Huffman and wife Keli of Wallace; fourteen great grandchildren and a special friend and care giver Becky Pugh. A native of Duplin County Mr. Rivenbark is the son of the late Leadie and Flora Hanchey Rivenbark. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Frances Nichols and two brothers, Leadie Norwood Rivenbark and Joel Rivenbark. Mr. Rivenbark was owner and operator of D. H. Rivenbark Logging and Sawmill. He served on the UCB advisory board, he was a supporting member of the community helping people in their time of need. He was an avid dove hunter and was considered the best shot in the county. He enjoyed many years of involvement in mud racing. In his later years Mr. Rivenbark's greatest interest was his grandchildren and great grandchildren who will cherish the memories of their \"Papa\". Casketbearers will be Richard Hudson, Robert Hudson, Jr., David Rivenbark, III, Thomas Huffman, Chuck Farrior, Denny Lanier, L. H. Turner, and Jon Henderson. Honorary Bearers will be Jay Herring, Charles Savage and Bray Batts, J. L. Nichols, Stevie Rivenbark, and Allen Earl Rivenbark.
