Obituary

Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Padgett English, lovingly known as Peggy, age 68, of Wallace, died Friday, May 13, 2011 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. She was born on May 27, 1942 in Pender County. She was the oldest of 4 children of the late Earl \"Bud\" Padgett and Gertrude \"Gertie\" Maready Padgett. She is survived by her husband, Emory Holmes English, of 54 years. She was the loving mother of Stephen English and wife Gayle of Teachey, Terry English and wife Rita of Wilmington, and Kim Patram and husband Dennis of Wallace. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Michael Patram and wife Tonya, Matthew English and wife Amanda, Kayla English, Brooke Patram, Lindsey English, and Eric English. Also, two sisters Norma Gurganus and husband Larry of Willard and Carolyn Brooks and husband David of Wallace, and one brother, Edward Earl \"Pete\" Padgett and wife Pam of Willard and several special nieces and nephews. Peggy was a beautiful and spirited person. She loved life, being involved with her family's lives, and working closely with people. She always supported her children and grandchildren in all their activities. She enjoyed attending ball games, baking red velvet cakes, working in her yard and the fellowship with her friends at Hardee's. She delighted in working with the children's ministry at Poston Baptist Church, as well as lending a helping hand at the Brian Center. Peggy was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her family. Casket bearers will be Michael Patram, Matthew English, Eric English, Leon Gurganus, Nelson Gurganus, and Scott Brooks.
