Mrs. Dorothy Bowden Rackley of Havelock, NC passed away on November 11, 2010 after a long illness. She spent the last years of her life at Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay located at Sea Level, NC. She was born on October 2, 1931 in Teachey, NC to the late Charles A. Bowden and Brower Wells Bowden. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Marshall B. Bowden and Edwin Wells Bowden. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John O. Rackley and her sister Eleanor B. Miller of Athens, GA. Dorothy graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1954 and then entered the retail furniture business with her husband. She served as the president of Bowden and Carr Furniture in Havelock and Bowden Furniture in Goldsboro, NC for many years. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church.
