Mrs. Edna Stanton Johnson age 98 of Magnolia passed away peacefully Monday, March 8, 2010 at Rosemary Rest Home in Rose Hill. She is survived by one son, Sherwood Johnson of Magnolia, one daughter, Joy Johnson Guenther and husband Christopher of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Mark Guenther and wife Diane of Woodbridge, Virginia, Stacey Doten and husband Dana of Fairfax, Virginia, Wayne Johnson and wife Pam of Hope Mills, NC; three great grandchildren, Harley, Mackenzie and Ronnie and two step great-grandchildren, Joe and Ian. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arminius Johnson; two sisters, Betty Stanton Small and Maude Reid; four brothers, Robert Stanton, Rupert Stanton, Carlisle Stanton and Zeb Stanton all of Pasquotank County. Born September 15, 1911, Mrs. Johnson is the daughter of the late Addison and Betty Fletcher Stanton. She was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church. She graduated from East Carolina Teachers College and taught Elementary school in Duplin, Sampson, Pender, Pasquotank and Tyrell counties. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, gardening, and had a love for the outdoors and sunsets.
