Mr. Edward Winthly Gavin, age 78 of Kenansville, NC, died on November 5, 2016 at Vidant Duplin Hospital in Kenansville, NC. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Devotional Gardens in Warsaw, NC conducted by Rev. Jimmy Johnson.

Edward is survived by his granddaughter, Kelly Gavin Pena and husband Telesforo of Faison, NC, his great granddaughter, Abigail Pena of Faison, his sister-in-law, Erlene Gavin of Rose Hill, NC and his uncle, Ervin Johnson and wife Nancy of Rose Hill, NC.

Edward was born on June 20, 1938 in Duplin County to the late Homer William and Sally Johnson Gavin. He is also predeceased by his wife, Bertha E. Gavin, his son, Edward Keith Gavin, his sister, Lois Gavin and his brothers, Heulett Gavin, Lawrence Gavin and Lewis Gavin.

Edward loved to be outside working in his garden. He loved his dog and his birds. He also enjoyed collecting golf balls.
