Mr. Eli Carlton Lanier, age 84 of Wallace, NC, left this earthly life for his eternal life on Sunday, December 28, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Church of Pin Hook conducted by the Reverend Buster Price and David Walker. Burial will follow at Henderson Cemetery in Wallace, NC. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Padgett Funeral Home Chapel. Carlton is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Margaret (Sally) Lanier, his loving children, Eli Carlton Lanier, Jr. of Wallace, NC and Ethan Alan Lanier and wife Lorie of Wallace, NC, two sisters, Margaret Sanderson of Wallace, NC and Shirley Walker of Wallace, NC, seven grandchildren, Emily Martin of Wallace, NC, Jenny Cecchi of Beulaville, NC, Valerie Futrell and husband Neal of Beulaville, NC, Evan Crews of Richlands, NC, Kaylin Lanier of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Courtney Lanier of Wallace, NC and Cameron Lanier of Wallace, NC, three great grandchildren, Lorena and Loris Cecchi of Beulaville and Will Futrell of Beulaville, NC. Born on December 29, 1929 in Duplin County, Carlton was the son of the late Eli Clemeth and Minnie Mae Reece Lanier and was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray Lanier, Shelton Lanier and Everton Lanier and one sister, Doris Aycock. Carlton loved his family and will be missed by his family and friends. Casket Bearers will be Larry Walker, Robert \"Buddy\" Walker, Jamie Walker, Ernie James, Jr, David Elston and Ronnie Sholar.
