Mrs. Elizabeth Young Knowles, age 92 of Wallace, NC, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. She was born September 23, 1921 in Duplin County, NC. Mrs. Knowles was a member of Corinth Baptist Church for 65 years. In her working life, Mrs. Knowles held various jobs in Wallace and at the time of her retirement she was working as assistant town clerk and listed taxes for years in Duplin County. She was an avid fisherman along with her husband and enjoyed spending time at Topsail Island, NC. She was the daughter of the late Lee Roy and Mary Elizabeth Savage Young. She was also predeceased by her husband Raymond Clifton Knowles and her sister Doris Young Benton. She is survived by her brother Leroy Young and Frances of Teachey, NC. She is survived by her daughter, Rachel Knowles Dillard of Salisbury, NC, and her granddaughter, Elizabeth Dillard Everidge and her husband Phillip of Salisbury, NC. Her great-grandchildren, William Benjamin Everidge of Salisbury, NC, Courtney Justine Everidge of Salisbury, NC and Marissa Leigh Everidge of Salisbury, NC. Her great-great grandchildren Noah Advier Everidge and Riley James Everidge of Salisbury, NC. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services, Wallace, NC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Corinth Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Matthew Burriss and Reverend Andy Beard. Burial will follow at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery in Wallace, NC. Pallbearers are Steve Brooks, Ray Brooks, Roy Young, Tommy Godwin, Eric Godwin, Jason Wicker, Mike Knowles, and Glenn Knowles.
