Mr. Elvin Thomas \"Pee Wee\" Rooks age 83 of Watha died Friday, February 19, 2010 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center in Wilmington. Mr. Rooks is survived by one daughter, Sue Keene and husband Wayne; one son, Elvin \"Button\" T. Rooks, Jr. all of Wallace; step-children, Jean Harris and husband Mike of Hugo, Teresa Whitfield and husband Neil of Pink Hill, Harvey Stroud and wife Wendy of Mount Olive, Herbert Stroud and wife Jenny of Rose Hill; grand children, Dwayne Keene, Melissa Knowles and husband Chris all of Wallace, Jesssie Straughn and husband Bobby of Warsaw, Kelsey Rooks of Oak Island,; step grandchildren, Austin Harris of Hugo, Tracey Howard of Pink Hill, Jeremy Whitfield and wife Erica of Pink Hill, Kristen Whitfield of Kinston Danielle Stroud of Kinston, Kimberly Stroud and Kelly Stroud of Mount Olive; great grandchildren, Chloe Straughn of Warsaw, Emily Knowles and Rachel Knowles of Wallace, one sister, Joyce R. Brown of Wallace and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Rooks is a native of Pender County and the son of Thomas William and Maggie Wheeler Rooks. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Frances Sandlin Rooks of twenty-six years.
