Obituary

Emily Scott Oswald Beaman, age 55 of Wilson and Wallace, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015 at Vidant Duplin Hospital in Kenansville. She was born August 25, 1959 in Pender County to Harry Lee and Anntilla Scott Oswald. A Wallace girl until her marriage, she graduated from Pender Academy and James Sprunt Community College. Her husband of 29 years, Hugh Lassiter Beaman Jr, preceded her in death earlier this year. She is also predeceased by her father, Harry Lee Oswald III; aunts Mary Wingard Oswald Wilson and Sue Carl Oswald Johnson; and one cousin, Margaret Highsmith Johnson Pearce. Mrs. Beaman is survived by her Mother Anntilla Scott Oswald; sisters Ann Davis Oswald Weaver and husband Gary and Mary Hart Oswald Blackburn and husband Michael; nieces Mary Lila Blackburn and Elizabeth Oswald Blackburn, all of Wallace; uncle and aunt Joe Hart and Mary Alice Scott of Rose Hill; and cousins who were more like brothers and sisters Julie and Bobby Lane, Joe and Robin Scott, Susan and Ken Avent, Jamie Sue Johnson and Mike Moore, and Lee Johnson. Emily Scott is best known for her quiet, gentle nature and positive attitude even in the face of adversity. She always expressed her concern for others through action and deed. Emily Scott held dear many friendships that she developed and nurtured throughout her life. Her kind and loving spirit was with her until her last day. She enjoyed her associations with First Free Will Baptist Church in Wilson and First Baptist Church in Wallace. Her family will receive visitors on Wednesday evening, April 1, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the home of Gary and Ann Davis Weaver, 415 N Raleigh Street, Wallace. A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 2, 2 p.m. at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery in Wallace. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Wallace, 408 W Main St, Wallace NC 28466 or First Free Will Baptist Church of Wilson, 4865 NW Nash St, Wilson NC 27893.
