Mrs. Eva Helen Collingwood, age 93, passed away on May 31, 2013 at Davis Health Care Center in Wilmington, NC. Funeral services will be held at a later date in Alpha, Illinois. She is survived by a son, Russ Collingwood and wife Roseann of Wallace, NC, a grandson, Brian Collingwood of Matthews, NC, a granddaughter, Erin Gardner & husband Rodney of Charlotte, NC, two great granddaughters, Grace and Peyton Gardner of Charlotte, NC, a sister, Josephine Malley of San Jose, CA and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Collingwood was born March 8, 1920 in Melcher, Iowa to the late Anton and Vida Mahalovich Bubon. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Gene M. Collingwood, four brothers, John, Tony, Ralph, and Joe Bubon and a sister, Mary Fee. She graduated from Oxford Township High School in 1937. She worked with the U.S. Government for 33 years and for 27 years was the postmaster in Alpha, Illinois. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Professional Association League of Postmasters. She loved gardening, reading, cooking, fellowship, spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren. She was a huge Chicago Cubs fan.
