Knowles
July 23, 2034 – August 9, 2010
On August 9,2010, Mr. Forrest T. Knowles, 76, of Magnolia, went to his eternal home. He was born on July 23, 1934, in Duplin County to Joseph and Stella (Harrell) Knowles. On September 13, 1969, he married Sandra C. Bass in Conway, South Carolina. They have loved each other and have been a true team for over 40 years. In April 1957, he was inducted into the United States Army as an Air Defense Missile Crewman. He served on active duty until January 1959. Following his tour of duty, Mr. Knowles worked at J.P. Stevens and later Burlington Mills. Finally in the mid-1960s, he started working in the field he truly loved, logging. He worked for different companies and crews until 1980 when he started his own logging business, Forrest T. Knowles and Sons Logging Company. He spent his days alongside his crew in the logging woods until 2009. He loved the woods and the people at 360 Forest Products whom he worked with so closely. Mr. Knowles was preceded in death by his parents and his sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy Bonham and husband, Jimmy. Mr. Knowles leaves his wife, Sandra, of the home and four sons who called him Daddy: Ricky Knowles and wife, Debra, of Richlands; Gary Wynn and wife, Stephanie, of Beebe, AR; Terry Wynn, and girlfriend, Julie Jackson, of Goldsboro; and Ron Knowles and girlfriend, Tammy Sanderson, of Magnolia. He adored his four grandchildren who called him Pa: T.J. Wynn and wife, Jenny, of Rose Hill; Tammy Jo Wynn, of Warsaw; Cyndell Wynn, of Beebe, AR; and Chad Knowles, of Richlands. He delighted also in his two great-grandchildren who called him Pappy: Jessica and Zachary Wynn, of Rose Hill. He was a loving brother to his remaining siblings: J.C. Knowles and wife, Lewelln, of Wallace; Carolyn Ratley and husband, D.A., of Red Springs; Marion Knowles and wife, Linda, of Pender County; and Mary Lee Strickland and husband, Walter, of Willard. He loved family and leaves many relatives who will love and miss him. He also loved his beloved dogs, J.D., Winston, and Wolfie, all of the home, who were a part of his family too.
