Ms. Frances Garriss, age 59, of Wallace, NC, died Friday December 9, 2011, at Carolina East/Quinn Hospice Center, Kenansville. She was born in Sampson County on March 21, 1952, the daughter of the late David and Hilda (Walker) Matthews and was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Louise Jones and three brothers, David Matthews, James Powell and Bobby Powell. Frances had a talent for working with crafts and loved spending time in her garden attending to her flowers. She also enjoyed fishing, cooking and cherished spending time with her family and friends. Surviving are: a daughter, Kathy Houston and husband Willis of Willard, NC, a son, Terry Lewis Jones of Elizabeth City, NC, two brothers, Jimmy \"Turkey\" Matthews and wife Judy of Teachey, NC and Larry \"Dicky\" Matthews of Wallace, NC, two sisters, Teresa Lee of Wallace, NC and Ann Piner and husband Willie Jr. of Rose Hill, NC, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
