George Buckner Daniel Parker, Jr. of Wilmington and formerly of Chinquapin and Raleigh, died Friday, July 26, 2013, in the Davis Health Care Community following a recent illness. He was born in Chinquapin, NC on January 21, 1923, the son of the late Mary Belle Royal and George Buckner Daniel Parker, Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Avent Parker, a daughter, Marjorie Stuart Parker, his brother, Hardy R. Parker and a sister, Sara Parker Olsen. Mr. Parker spent his early years in Duplin County with his family business. After moving to Raleigh, he was a charter member of the White Memorial Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Carolina Country Club and a member of the old Raleigh Boys Club. His interests included Real Estate, farming, piloting light aircraft and using his helicopter for area crop dusting. Surviving are: two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Parker (Libby) Holladay and husband, Jim, of Wilmington, and Sara Avent Parker Patterson of Apex, and a son, George Buckner Daniel Parker, III, and wife Pandora of Raleigh. His ten grandchildren are: Kris Hines and husband John of Cary, Susi Hamilton and husband Steve of Wilmington, Randy Holladay and wife Meg of Hampstead, Virginia Patterson of Apex, David Patterson of New York, Shannon Rabon and husband Ashley of Tega Cay, SC, George Parker IV, of Raleigh, Shane Parker and wife Shauna of Garner, Courtney Parker of Raleigh, and Jordan Hoff and husband Matt of Clayton. His nine great-grandchildren : Abby Hines, Parker Hamilton, Hannah Rabon, Ellie Rabon, Riley Rabon, Macy Rabon, Sawyer Parker, Henry Parker, and Ava Hoff also 6 nieces and nephews and his special friend, Gloria Musselwhite. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the Parker Family Cemetery in Chinquapin, NC.
