Geraldine W. Harvell of Penderlea, North Carolina passed away at home on Saturday morning, July 14, 2018 while surrounded by her family. She was born in Duplin County on November 29, 1928 to the late Preston and Mollie Rivenbark Wheeler and was married to the late Francis H. Harvell, Sr. They lived in Penderlea for many years and she worked for Hamilton Beach for thirty-five years and later for Worsley Oil Company until her retirement. She wore many hats in this life--mother, friend, business person, southern lady, confidant--and was a shining example to all who know her. She will be missed but we will see her again in heaven with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Mrs. Harvell was predeceased by her husband--Francis H. Harvell Sr, her very good friend-Henry S. Williams, parents--Mollie and Preston Wheeler, brothers--Russell, Major, Leonard,and Bobby Wheeler, sisters--Essie Bennett, Mildred Kirven, and Sarah Jones. She is survived by her children--Butch Harvell and wife Jo, Robert Harvell, Pamela Cole and husband Dean, and Gary Harvell and wife Lisa; grandchildren--Tommie Cole and wife Heather, Gareth Harvell and wife Afton, Courtney Holmes and husband J.W., and Jefferson Harvell; great grandchildren--Kynsley and Brody Cole,Harlan Holmes, and Abby Harvell; sister--Inez Coombs; and best friend (and sister-in-law)--Sarah Harvell; many nieces and nephews

A memorial service will be held at Potts Memorial Church in Penderlea on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m.

The family would like to thank everybody for all the acts of kindness shown and a special Thank You to Rose Ann James (care-giver and helper), Linda Cole "near daughter", her Potts Memorial Presbyterian Church family, and Lower Cape Fear Hospice for all their support. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice or a charity of one's choice.
