Mrs. Gertrude Bostic Lanier age 90 of Jacksonville, formerly of Wallace died Monday September 24, 2012 at Carolina Rivers Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Jacksonville. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday September 26, 2012 at Padgett Funeral Chapel. Visitation will follow after the service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at Riverview Memorial Park.

She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Clifton and husband Robert of Cape Carteret, NC, two grandchildren, Bobby Clifton and wife Denise of Clayton, NC, Alison Bentz and husband Maj. Jeff Bentz of Riverview, FL., two great grandchildren, Anthony Bentz and Zachary Bentz, both of Riverview, FL., four step great grandchildren, Matthew Earp, Jessica Earp, Heather Hagwood and Tyler Hagwood, all of Clayton, NC, two step great great grandchildren, Summer Earp and Carly Earp, both of Clayton, NC, and several nieces and nephews.

Born October 21, 1921 in Duplin County, Mrs. Lanier was the daughter of the Late John William and Estelle Sholar Bostic. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wallace and loved sewing, gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She graduated with honors as a Valedictorian from Chinquapin High School. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Albert Franklin Lanier, and two brothers, William Bill Bostic and Norwood Maready.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Wallace Covered Walkway, 408 West Main Street, Wallace, NC 28466.
