Mrs. Gracie Register Howard age 81 of Wallace died Saturday March 6, 2010 at Duplin General Hospital in Kenansville. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Burgess and Fiance' Ron Ruppert of Lake Wylie, SC; five sons, Elwood Howard and wife Cheryl of Shalotte, NC, Tommy Howard of Castle Hayne, NC, Larry Howard and wife Teresa of Raleigh, NC, Bobby Howard and wife Kay and Steve Howard and wife Krista both of Plant City, FL; sisters, Ailene Pope of Turkey, NC, Phoebe Mellott of Baltimore, MD, Dot Ellis of Warsaw, NC; brothers; William F. Register of Warsaw, NC, H. E. Register and wife Mary of Louisville, KY; thirty-one grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Born in Nash County Mrs. Howard is the daughter of the late Ellis and Dora Williams Register. She was preceded in death by her husband Chancey Melvin Howard, Jr. and two sisters, Dora Mae Carter and Mary Ellen Jones. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Wallace.
