Obituary

Henrietta Gaylor Tucker Kissner of Magnolia, NC, passed from her earthly life to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, while at home.  Born on November 8, 1934, she is the daughter of the late James Preston and Henrietta Gaylor Tucker.  Her mother died while giving birth to her and she was raised by the late Marvin and Eva Bradshaw.  She was also predeceased by her late husband Luther Thomas Kissner Jr.; son—Luther Thomas (Tommy) Kissner III; and siblings—J.P. Tucker, William T. Tucker, Herbert Tucker, Carl Tucker, Lela Tucker Powell, Avis Tucker Evans, Alma Tucker Brinson, Matthew Bradshaw, Fulton Bradshaw, Maude Bradshaw Batts, Melva Bradshaw Wilson, and Cynthia Bradshaw Wilson.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter—Harriet K. Hardison; grandchildren—Trista Jones (Johnny) of Teachey, Heather Cook (Alex Phipps) of Warsaw, and Hope Sessoms (Justin) of Roseboro; great grandchildren—Brady Jones, Hayden Cook, Jackson Jones, Tanner Mills, Sadie Lane, Easton Sessoms, Wyatt Sessoms, and Sophia Phipps; special family members—Lisa Fussell and Amanda Rivenbark; many nieces and nephews who are all very special; and many very special neighbors in Magnolia.

Born in Duplin County, Mrs. Kissner spent most of her life there.  A great portion of her work career was in the public school system as a teacher assistant and school bus driver.  She attended the Magnolia Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for more than forty years.  As a lady "with a heart of gold", she loved the simple life and was very content in it.  She delighted in her role as a "giver".  She enjoyed gardening, she loved to get out and ride "up town" to Magnolia, cooking for family and friends, sharing recipes, word search puzzles, going to Rose Hill Restaurant and loved their spots, she also loved to shell pecans. She was a perfectionist at shelling them and did so prior to her passing. When family and friends came to visit, she would say pull up a chair and eat. She always wanted to make sure everyone was fed and offered leftovers to take home.  She loved her family more than anything on earth and especially loved when they came to visit.  It made her day to sit and talk and laugh with them. She loved her Lord and Savior.  Her testimony was "How Great Thou Art".  Days prior to her passing she would sing "How Great Thou Art" often.

A service to celebrate her life is set for 12 Noon on Monday, January 2, 2023, at Magnolia Baptist Church, Magnolia NC.  The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow the service in Devotional Memorial Gardens of Warsaw.
