Mrs. Irene Alderman Rivenbark, age 96, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and individual known for her strong, loving, caring and nurturing personality, went home to Jesus on June 26, 2025.

Born on February 23, 1929, the daughter of the late Daniel Grey and Maude Stilley Alderman of Rose Hill, NC (Duplin Co.) was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Edsel Bryant Rivenbark, Sr. in 1994; son, Edsel "Eddie" Bryant Rivenbark, Jr.; sisters, Pansy Alderman Elliott, Frances Alderman Quinn, and eight-year-old Lila Grey Alderman; brother, Daniel Grey Alderman, Jr.; brothers-in-law, James Douglas Elliott, Sr., and I.J. Quinn, Sr.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra "Sandy" and David R. Rackley, Jr., grandson, Charles "Chad" D. Rackley, and wife Ainsley, great grandchildren, Parker and Maci. Her departure leaves an unfillable void in their lives, yet they find comfort in the memories and everlasting love they shared.

Irene worked many jobs in her lifetime, one being a nurse as an assistant for several years. Working in the furniture business for her brother-in-law, Henry Ford Rivenbark, at Rivenbark Furniture Co. She also worked in the commissary at Stevcoknit. Volunteering at Blessings in Store Ministry gave her great pleasure as well.

Irene enjoyed cooking and serving delicious meals for her family that she loved so dearly. She was talented in many crafts such as drawing, painting, knitting and coloring. She treasured her bridge club friends with a bond that continued for over 50 years.

Visitation was held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Memorial Park Rd, Gainesville, GA on Sunday, June 29, 2025. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 6, 2025, in Wallace, NC at Padgett Funeral Home, 401 West Main St., Wallace, NC 28466 with graveside at Brice's Cemetery, Hwy 41, Wallace, NC 28466.
