November 3, 1943 – December 13, 2025
James Leon Hollingsworth of Willard, NC, passed away early Saturday morning, December 13, 2025, while at home. Born on November 3, 1943, he is the son of the late Charles Leon and Sarah Lou Uselton Hollingsworth.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of forty-four years--Shirley Ann Autry Hollingsworth of the home; sons--Eric and Chris Hollingsworth of Tennessee; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters-in-law--Glenda Taylor of Wallace and Gail Stone (Rodger) of Willard; and brothers-in-law--Henry Autry (Ann) of Penderlea, Eugene "Skeeter" Autry of Willard, and Dean Autry of Wallace.
"Jimmy" was born in Davidson County, Tennessee and lived there during his early life. A very mild-mannered man, he never had much to say unless he was asked. He went into the United States Army and spent time in Viet Nam during his first enlistment. Later, he reenlisted and was in the army for a total of twenty-two years. During this time, he was named Outstanding Army Soldier of The Year by the senior enlisted members of the Defense Mapping Agency. His excellence in marksmanship is shown in his sharpshooter marksmanship qualification badge. In 1981, he married the love of his life while in the military and they settled in Willard after their retirement.
