James Stedman \"Ted\" Moore, 91, departed his earthly home Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Sampson Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born in Duplin County as the youngest son to the late Richard Henry Moore and Hannah Cornelia Hill on September 20, 1918. Other than military service in the United States Navy during World War II, he lived most of his life in the Sampson County community of Harrells. He was a member of Wells Chapel Baptist Church, and a strong supporter of various agricultural and civic activities in the community throughout his life. During his early years, he was a partner in Bowen and Moore Farms, and later with his sons founded and operated J and K Farms, and Clear Run Farms. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by six brothers and three sisters, his first grandchild, Lori Moore and son-in-law Michael Harvell. Surviving are his wife of seventy years, Laura Grey Rivenbark; daughter, Dianne Harvell of Wilmington, sons Ted and wife Sandra, Kenny and wife Lou Anna, and Jimmy and wife Joan of Harrells; grandchildren, Jennifer Bishop and husband Mark of Clinton, Kristy Moore of Rocky Point, Matt Moore, Joanie Moore and Will Moore all of Wilmington, Charles Moore and wife Allyson, Blake Moore and wife Greer and Kent Moore all of Harrells; great-grandchildren Brady, Grae, Vayden, Morgan, Sarah Beth and Elam Moore, and Michaela and Lauren Bishop; his adopted family, friends and caregivers Douglas Robinson, Tempie Smith, Ruth Ezzell, Ma Cecilia Vasquez-Alejandre and Annie Mae Merritt. A funeral service will be conducted at Wells Chapel Baptist Church on Monday, October 12 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and other times at the Moore residence. The family suggests memorials to Wells Chapel Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
