Jane Kay Boyd Rettan departed her earthly life in the early morning hours of Thursday, April 30, 2026, at her home in Teachey. Born on January 3, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Edna Merle Boyd and the devoted wife of 35 years to the late Jerry Rettan.
Jane, lovingly known as “Nanny” to those who adored her most, was a woman whose life was centered around the people she loved. Small in stature but strong in spirit, she cherished her family deeply, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and pride.
In her earlier years, Jane shared her love of dance as a teacher to many, a passion she carried with her throughout her life—often enjoying her favorite shows like Dancing with the Stars. She also prided herself as a skilled sharpshooter, earning many trophies over the years.
She found true companionship in dogs of all kinds, always welcoming their loyalty and comfort into her life. Some of her most treasured moments were the simple, meaningful ones spent with her daughter—nail appointments, shopping trips, beach days, and time together watching her favorite shows. Those everyday traditions became lasting memories for those who loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Julie Jackson and husband Dan of Teachey; grandchildren, Dustin Jackson and wife Holli of Rose Hill, and Camron Jackson and wife Shannon of Teachey; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Jackson, Kenzie Tate Jackson, Luke Jackson, and Jace Jackson; and sisters, Betty Clodfelter of Thomasville, North Carolina, Joan Travers of Clover, South Carolina, and Patti Garrett of Thomasville, North Carolina.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in the chapel of Padgett Funeral Home, 401 West Main Street, Wallace, North Carolina.
