Obituary

Mrs. Jeanette Knowles Scott of Teachey, NC, left her earthly life for her heavenly home on Tuesday afternoon, March 5, 2019 while at Vidant Duplin Hospital in Kenansville, NC.  Born on February 16, 1936 in Rose Hill, NC, she was the daughter of the late Livvie and Lucille King Knowles.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband--Ray Scott; sisters--Wilma Benton, Mary Benton, and Hazel Kissenger; brothers--James Knowles, Eudie Knowles, Warren Knowles, Paul Knowles, Guy Knowles, David Knowles, Robert Knowles, and Kenneth Knowles.

Surviving are her sons-- Randy Scott and wife Anne of Leland, Walter Scott and wife Sharon of Teachey; daughters--Regina Gregory and husband William of Rose Hill, Amy Hedgpeth and husband David of Magnolia; sister--Theo Batts and husband Claiborne of Wallace; a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren; Vickie Baker and her second family at Godwin's IGA of Rose Hill and her customers of the store.

She was a member of the Rose Hill Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and was very devout in her Christian faith.  Working as a clerk in Godwin's IGA in Rose Hill for forty-one years, Mrs. Scott left a positive impression on many people in the Rose Hill area.  There was an unconditional love in her for all children within her reach.  She showed this love every day.  Working with her flowers was a pleasure until her health no longer allowed it.  Mrs. Jeanette's philosophy on cooking was "the more people the better" and  in younger years, her home was always filled with family and friends, especially on Sunday nights.
