Jesse Harrell

Jesse R. Harrell of Wallace departed his earthly life for his eternal life on Sunday, May 3, 2026 after a period of declining health. Born on September 9, 1947, he is the son of the late Jess and Ada Wilson Harrell. Also preceding him in death are his loving wife—Rebecca Ann Smith Harrell; daughter—Tracy Stalker; grandson—Preston Lee Stalker; and siblings—Susie Jones, Alton Harrell, Nellie Mae Garner, and Jim Harrell.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter—Melissa Ann Harrell of Wallace; son—Royce Lee Williams of Wallace; grandchildren—Carlee Cottle of Wallace, Randyn Swinson of Pittsboro, Carissa Shepard of Fayetteville, Faythlyn Williams of Wallace, Katey Matlock and husband Robert of Fayetteville, and Chandler Stalker of Wallace; great granddaughter—Kinsley Harrell of Wallace; and special nephews—James Jones and Glenn Jones.

Jesse was born in Duplin County and remained very near the area most of his life. He spent time in the United States Army during the mid-sixties during the Viet Nam era. After the military he devoted his career to the trucking industry as a truck driver, working mainly for Murphy Brown and then Murphy Farms. He loved his family dearly and was always a great source of support for them.

A graveside service to celebrate his life is set for 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 in the Rose Hill Cemetery on Firetower Road in Rose Hill.
