Mr. Joe William Powell, Jr. age 48 of Seven Springs, NC, died on March 29, 2016 as a result of an automobile accident . Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 at Padgett Funeral Home in Wallace, NC. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 4:00 pm at Padgett Funeral Home in Wallace, NC conducted by Rev. Larry Belch and Rev. Gary Manning. Visitation will continue at the American Legion Building in Wallace for visits and dinner.

Joe is survived by his mother and step father, Marian Anne and Glenn Kornegay of Teachey, NC, his father, Joe William Powell, Sr. of Rocky Mount, NC, his daughter, Kelly Marie Carroll of Mt. Olive, NC, his son, Joe William Powell, III of Mt. Olive, NC, his grandmother, Meryl Taylor of Rocky Mount, NC and his grandchildren, Eden, Miles and Tyson Carroll of Mt. Olive, NC, and Wyatt, Levi and Waylin Powell of Wallace, NC.

Joe was born on August 24, 1967 in Nash County.

He is predeceased by a brother, Ronnie Eugene Powell and a granddaughter, Rhiannon Carroll.

He enjoyed carpentry, fishing and spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed his work. He loved singing and country music. His employment included Jiffy Lube Manager in Rocky Mount, NC; self employed operation of Carolina Remodeling with his son, Joey; and Maintenance Director with his family's business, Glen Care Nursing Home. Joe also spent 4 years serving in the National Guard.
