John Wayne (J.W.) Bennett, of Wallace, NC passed away April 29th, 2014. Born June 15, 1944 in Georgetown, Indiana, he was the son of the late Chet and Bernice Bennett. He is survived by his wife, Diana Curtis Bennett, of the home, and his children, Jennifer Bennett Davis and husband John, of Swansboro, NC, and Joda Bennett and wife Stephanie, of Carolina Beach, NC. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Joshua, Joseph, and Jayden Davis of Swansboro, his brother Dale Bennett and wife Debbie of Benton, LA, and his sister, Deborah Bennett Zuidema and husband Dale, of Crestwood, KY. John Bennett loved his family, and he loved helping people. His life's work was pharmacy, and he worked in both Carolina Beach and Wallace for many years before settling in Wallace in 2005. He never wanted to work anywhere other than a community pharmacy where he could get to know his customers, and he called many of those customers his friends. He also loved the outdoors, preferring to be in the garden, on the tractor, or even better, out on the water catching fish. The family has chosen to mourn Mr. Bennett's passing with a private gathering to be held in June. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
