Mr. John Robert Jolley, age 71 of Cypress Creek, NC, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington. A celebration of life will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Cypress Creek Community Building, 403 Back Swamp Rd., Richlands, NC. Surviving besides his wife, Lynne (Pyle) Jolley of 45 years is a daughter, Robie Becker and husband Richard of Cypress Creek, NC, two grandchildren, SPC Calvin DeMott with the U.S. Army and Devin DeMott, an honor student at East Duplin High School, two step grandchildren, Geoff and William Becker, both honor students at East Duplin High School, a brother, Kenny Williams and wife Carol of Wilmington, NC, four sisters, Marie Schaffhouser of Franklin, KY, Rene Brown and husband of Cypress Creek, NC, Debbie Pierce and husband Jeff of Cypress Creek, NC, Janice Stump and husband Larry of Goldsboro, NC, three aunts, Grace Whaley of Cypress Creek, Ruth Brown of Rocky Point, NC and Rachel Bell of Kingsport, TN, an uncle, Durwood James and wife Gaye of Cypress Creek, NC and several nieces and nephews. Born December 6, 1941 at Ft. Bragg, NC, John was the son of the late John Jolley and Ferdelia (James) Rouse. He graduated from Chinquapin High School in 1959. Soon after graduating, John joined the United States Navy where he worked as a Communication Specialist. After leaving the Navy, he owned and operated American Prosthetics, a dental lab in Brandenton, Fl where he later retired. While in Florida, John became a member of the Manatee Masonic Lodge # 31. After retiring from American Prosthetics, John and his family moved to Cypress Creek, NC where he went to work for Murray Exterminators. Mr. Jolley was very active in his church. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Maple Hill. John also enjoyed his show dogs, playing in bands, fishing and spending time with his family.
