Mr. John Leland McGill, age 95, of Wallace, died Friday, May 20, 2011 at Rosemary Rest Home in Rose Hill. He is survived by one brother, Raymond McGill and wife Dot of Jacksonville, FL; numerous nieces and nephews; one brother-in-law, George Osborne of Tarboro; one sister-in-law, Angelene Dixon of Wallace. A native of Gaston County, NC, Mr. McGill was born May 6, 1916 to the late Isaac A. and Mary Amanda Fulton McGill. He was known as a people person and loved camping, traveling, and singing in the choir. He was a member of Teachey Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Eleanor Olivia Dixon McGill; six sisters, Gussie McGill, Kathlen Plonk, Pratt Spake, Edna McGill, Laura Wolfe, and Mildred Rumple; four brothers, Jim McGill, George McGill, William McGill, and Isaac McGill. Casket Bearers will be, John Hardison, Jr., Wesley Hairr, Blake Wallace, Jack Wells, Steve Dixon, and Devin Rich.
