Mr. John \"Jay\" Daniel Raynor, age 80, of Rose Hill, NC, died Friday December 23, 2011, at Duplin General Hospital, Kenansville, NC. He was born in Duplin County, NC, on May 29, 1931, the son of the late John Daniel Sr. and Annie Viva (Hatcher) Raynor. Jay loved watching wrestling and had on many occasions traveled to different parts of the state to watch them live. He also loved working outside doing such things as tending to his garden and mowing the grass but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Jay also liked helping others and one of the ways he did this was to work with the Meals on Wheels program. Surviving besides his wife Mary (Miller) Raynor of fifty years are: four daughters, Gloria Braswell and husband Rob of Wallace, NC, Wanda Raynor and Jack Frederick of Wallace, NC, Angie Butler and husband Tommy of Willard, NC, and Sonya Raynor and Linwood Hall of Rose Hill, NC, two sisters, Millie West and Edna Holland, one brother, Raymond Raynor, four grandchildren, Trey Braswell, Taylor Braswell, Jacob Braswell, and Mary Hadden Braswell, several nieces and nephews and a special thanks to the staff at the Brian Center. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2011 at Padgett Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ross Cavanaugh officiating. Burial will follow in the Raynor Family Cemetery, Chinquapin, NC. Casket Bearers are: Jimmy Ray Miller, Brandon Miller, Keith Miller, Mikey Miller, John West Jr., Trey Braswell, Jacob Braswell and Mary Hadden Braswell.
