Johnnie Aticus James, 64, of Hampstead, NC left this world way too soon.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shirley M. James and dog Chloe, daughter Misty J. Steffee and husband Robert of Holy Ridge, two grandchildren, Matthew J. Steffee and Abigail E. Steffee, stepson, Dwayne Keene of Wallace and a sister, Carolyn James Jarrell of Wilmington along with several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Margaret James of Wallace, and a brother Carey James of Harrells.

Johnnie was a man who was dedicated to his family and his job.  When he wasn't working, you could find him enjoying many hobbies such as cooking, hunting, fishing, and camping with his family.  The highlight of Johnnie's life was the joy he got from spending time with his grandchildren.

Johnnie had a heart of gold and a smile that could light up any room.  The legacy he leaves behind will continue through the many lives he has touched and the memories that will be shared for years to come.
