Mr. Joseph W. Murphy, age 78 of Wallace, NC, died on January 25, 2015 at Pender Memorial Hospital in Burgaw, NC. He was born on January 16, 1937 in Pender County, NC to the late Willie Monroe and Fannie Rautio Murphy. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Katherine M. Wheeler. Joe is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeanette J. Murphy of the home, his daughter, Allison M. Cavenaugh and husband Warren of Wallace, NC and two grandsons, William Chase Cavenaugh and Joshua Blake Cavenaugh, both of Wallace, NC, three sisters, Irene Dixon of Griffin, GA, Janet Casey of Jonesboro, GA and Barbara Smith of Clinton, NC. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church in Rose Hill, NC conducted by the Rev. Ross Cavanaugh and the Rev. Brad Carter. Burial will follow at Potts Memorial Church Cemetery in Penderlea, NC. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Casket Bearers will be Harry Walker, Tommie Blanton, Bobby Blanton, James Holland, Josh Cavenaugh and Will Cavenaugh.
