Mrs. Juanita Wells Powell age 87 of Wallace died Monday May 16, 2011 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. Born on December 7, 1923 in Wallace, Juanita was the daughter of the late R. T. and Cornelia Wells. She married the late David Ward Powell on July 15, 1945. Mrs. Juanita was an active member of the Wallace Presbyterian Church. Her faith and trust in God was evident by the values she lived by. She never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. A memorial service for Mrs. Juanita will be held on Thursday May 19, 2011 at the Wallace Presbyterian Church at 3:00 pm. The family will greet friends and family after the service in the Currie Building at the church and at other times at her home in Wallace. She is survived by her three children, Connie Graham; David Ward Powell, II and wife Donna; Bruce McDonald Powell and wife Carrie. Six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who fondly knew her as \"Mama II\" and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Ward Powell, a son-in-law, Larry Graham, a granddaughter, Susan Alyse Graham, three brothers and three sisters.
